SEARCHING HOLY SCRIPTURE

Its crazy to think that this is the first blog post for The Fountain Church Biblical Counseling Ministries. First off I have to thank everyone that has prayed so hard for this ministry. We as a church are very unique and blessed because there is no biblical counseling (other than us) in our area.

So what makes us so different? What is nouthetic counseling? What is wrong with secular counseling? These are great questions. I'd like to start with what is nouthetic counseling. Nouthetic is just a term that Paul coined in the New Testament. Most people in the movement (NANC National Agency of Nouthetic Counseling) thought that it was too intimidating of a word so there was a name change and NANC became ACBC(Association of Certified Biblical Counselors) . The type of counseling here is sufficiency in scripture. What that means is that we believe that the Bible has every answer for any situation in life. Every problem that you have can be solved with the Bible. Part 2 What is wrong with secular counseling? Well lets start off on the note that we love people. Secular psychology or even Christian psychology is not a science and in most cases just plain wrong. There is absolute no proof of any of their work being successful. And why would you listen to a man that is a fallen / sinful person and your (a fallen / sinful) problems. It would be like if you took your car to a mechanic who broke your car and his solution was to talk about you and your cars relationships. See it really doesn't make sense. We just think that it is wise to let a perfect God who has given us His Word to be the Counselor in our lives. Part 3, What makes us so different. We are different because we don't call sin sickness. If you steal something you aren't a klepto that cant control himself stemmed from unresolved dad issues because he wouldn't let you have a piece of candy when you were 3, you are simply and shamefully a THEIF. At The Fountain Church Biblical Counseling Ministries we will come along side of you and help you confront your sins. You will have the genuine prayers and concerns of a church family.
